Dear Mrs.Zrihen,The book that I am reading is called "The Clique #1," by: Lisi Harrison. The quote that touched me the most was, "My friends and I have our own thing going and you'll probably feel weird if you try to join in. You know, because we've known each other for so long," on page 29, because it shows Massie Block's true colors. By that, I mean that you can tell what kind of person Massie is and how she only cares about her family and her three friends. Before reading a book, I look at the genre, and then I look at the synopsis to get a sneak preview so I can tell if I would like it or not. While reading a book, write words that I don't understand in the book, and I put sticky noes in the main places of the book so that I can use them later. Last but not least, After reading a book, I look up all the words that I didn't understand, and then I do my reader's journal for Mrs.Zrihen. The genre of this book is Realistic fiction, because the things in the book can happen in real life, but they aren't the real people or scene places. The main characters in the book are Massie Block, Dylan Marvil, Alicia Rivera, Kristen Gregory, and Claire Lyons. The protagonists are all the main characters. The antagonists are also all the main characters. The foil is Massie's personal driver named Isaac. The setting of this book takes place in the Block families kitchen, at 10:49 P.M on August 31st. It was dark, and rainy. The exposition of this book is that Massie Bock doesn't like Claire Lyons and doesn't want anything to do with her. At first Massie didn't like Claire, and they had their ups and downs, but at the end when they realized they had a lot more in common, then thats when they started. The climax of this book is that every night when Massie was walking her dog Bean, Claire snuck into her room and chatted with Massie's friends and getting their secrets while impersonating her. The falling action, is when Massie found out about Claire's scam and they talked it through, so later on they became closer. The resolution of this book, is that Massie and Claire should've tried being friends at the beginning, instead of going through all this hate and trouble. The main problem was that they all should have talked it through and make some exceptions. The author's tone in this book is hard but soft at the same time, it's like she couldn't really make up her mind. The mood she was in was depressing and happy. The theme of this book was to teach people to just try and make something out of the relationship. The author's point of view is that she wanted to give people a learning experience and instead of putting all negativity, just put positive things in your mind. The pattern of organization is compare and contrast, because they are comparing the things that Massie does and did like, to the things she doesn't and did't like. The author's purpose for writing this book was to inform people to try new things instead of sticking with the old ones all the time. Three response starters are, I like the way the author wrote and explained herself in this book. I noticed how the author really put focus into thinking of how to write it. I wish that their was a little more action between Claire and Massie. I rate this book an 8 out of 10 because I liked how the author was detailed about everything and thought everything out before writing it. That is what I think of this book.
Sincerely,
Danielle Ben-David

ReplyDeleteThe first thing i would like to know would be why you rated the book a 8/10 and not 10/10. I liked how you described the exposition, falling action, and rising action. Other than that your blog to me is very interesting.
Danielle,
ReplyDeleteI think that you have done an amazing job describing the book ''The Clique''. You detailed it so well that the only way I will be able to find the book in the book store, is if I had to print it, buy all of the copies, and add them into all of the back covers , because I thinks it's better than any other old summary in the back of a book. About the Reader's journal I looked over it twice, and it seems that you have done everything on the rubric, including the ten pictionary words.
Your fellow student,
Gabriel Lewin
Hi Danielle !
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your readers journal. I can see you worked hard on this because you listed everything in order by the rubric and didn't skip a thing.
My favorite part of your journal was your quote because you were right about girls like that. Girls like Claire, shouldn't be treated badly before getting to know them. It's like judging a book by it's cover. I liked how you listed the tone, mood, etc. I would definitely read this book on my own time. I also realized that you listed the protagonist, antagonist, and the foil characters of the story.
What have you learned from reading this book ?
How does it relate to a real life conflict ?
Have you ever gone through this situation before ?
I really like how the resolution ended up to be happy, although they went through a lot.
I hope to hear your response back !
You did a very good job <3
Dear Danielle,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your readers' journal. From what I read it looks like you enjoyed this book. During the summer I read this book as well, I couldn't put it down. One thing is that I don't think the main characters are the protagonists because they were so rude to Claire.
What is the rising action of this book?
Is the conflict internal or external?
Was it character vs. character or character vs.self.....etc?
What was the point of view? as in first, second or third person?
What was the author's perspective?
Do you recommend this book?
If so to who do you recommend this book?
What was the figurative language in the story?
And what were the ten pictionary words?
Other than that I loved how you described what you wrote and I enjoyed reading your readers' journal.
Love,
Daniela Anidjar(:
